Friendly Tolerable Characters of
Pompton Lakes
Illustrated interpretation of the historic Little Yellow House tavern in Pompton Plains. Standing during the 1700s, it is believed that George Washington may have visited or stayed here while traveling to his nearby headquarters—a location chosen for its convenient and strategic setting during the Revolutionary War.
Very little is known about this structure and I did my best to research the area and the architecture of the time to come up with this iluustration.
